J.B. Pratt
Owner
J.B. has been in the grocery business for decades, first as an independent retailer, overseeing the small set of Oklahoma stores he took over from his father in the late 1970s. Just after getting a medical degree, he took over the family business because he felt it was something he could do himself. He eventually expanded the business to open a few supermarkets, including one in Moore and another two in OKC. He brought his medical training into the grocery business, promoting healthy eating in his stores in the 1990s and 2000s.
Here is a 1986 article in The Daily Oklahoman: https://www.oklahoman.com/story/news/1986/04/13/pratts-in-moore-innovative-supermarket/62729680007/
About 15 years ago, after closing all of the stores, he began selling locally-produced foods in the Oklahoma City metro at farmers markets. He has maintained his interests in medicine and health and enjoys reading up on supplements and natural foods.
J.B. began using Wellness Connection as the name for his food-related business after closing Pratt Foods in 2004 because he hoped to provide resources, products, and consulting on dietary, grocery, and food matters. But now it is about selling local foods.
His son John processes paperwork for Wellness Connection while also building up his own technology news website, http://dfork.news/. An earlier website John that co-founded, Fundable (2005-2009), was the source of the word "crowdfunding" (via a hobby offshoot that someone made, called Fundavlog). John sold the Fundable domain name to the current owners in 2010, just before crowdfunding took off.
The OKC Farmers Market is located in the Farmers District of downtown Oklahoma City, at 311 S. Klein. It is open every Saturday from 9AM to 2PM.

Started in 1923 with just one cow, we are now one of the most diversified dairies, doing more than just milking cows. Ruby and Harley Swan, Sr. started with that one cow and eventually grew the herd and the business. The business began delivering milk in classic glass bottles to Claremore residents. In 1946, the milk route was sold due to help shortage from WWII, and we began to sell our milk to a local processor. About five years after selling the milk route, Ruby and Harley, Sr. began selling Grade A raw milk to the public, straight from the farm. In 1962, Ruby and Harley, Sr.’s sons, Harley, Jr. and Larry, bought the dairy to continue the legacy. In 1972, Harley, Jr. and his wife Dorothy bought Larry’s portion of the dairy and continued to sell raw milk at the farm.
Diane, the daughter of these second generation farmers, returned home to the dairy to begin making cheese beginning with our hand-crafted Colby cheese in April of 1985, followed closely by our cheddar and jalapeno-flavored cheddar cheeses in June that same year. Diane has perfected the craft over the past several decades and is the person behind the brand, Oklahoma Premium Cheese. Between 1985 and 2016, we added six cheeses to our always growing list of premium cheese.
